  1. Superb article, Brooke! I was actually just about to write you an e-mail when the notification that you had a new post showed up in my inbox. Now that e-mail will wait until I’ve had an opportunity to read this a few more times. Just the inspiration I needed at exactly the moment I needed it — your writing seems to always have that quality.

  2. Brooke, I was amazed that the girl I just read about is you. I say was because the parts of the woman who I have started to know are so different from the girl in the story. But I realize, now, there is so much more to you than I could know. The fallacy I fabricated in my mind through a medium of words, did you an injustice. It did, however reinforce something I thought I knew about your. No, it confirmed it. You have a core that is strong. It is strong because you are not afraid to face it and accept it in all it’s beauty or ugliness. I have seen the effect you have in those in your “tribe”. You make everything around you greater because of who you were and who you are. I truly truly hope to meet you one day and say thank you to your face.

    • Very beautiful to hear, thank you for that. Yes, I suppose there are a lot of layers, some I don’t even know are there. It’s incredible how the things we bury down deep inside either slowly make their way to the surface or get detonated by the pressure of all the other shit that gets piled on top… a fucking ride, indeed.

  3. Brooke, this is at once heartbreaking and triumphant. You have a unique beauty inside of you that comes through in everything you write, and it is an absolute pleasure and gift to witness your intrinsic beauty though your words. I am grateful.

  4. My friend Brooke is thoughtful, strong, brilliant, courageous, funny and kind – she inspires me on a daily basis. If Alicia could see that girl now, she would stand in awe of the person before her, just as I – and everyone else lucky enough to know you – do. Very proud of you for not only writing another profoundly moving article but for overcoming then and now, and for holding on so tightly to that beautiful heart of yours. It indeed is an honour to be a member of Team Brooke.

  7. Hey just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let you know a few of the images aren’t loading properly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different browsers and both show the same outcome.
